Stages of Change training course

Behavioral health clinicians use the stages of change model to assess the willingness of clients to change maladaptive behaviors. This model is based on the understanding that change is a process and that individuals have to be willing to change in order to effectively engage in treatment.  Incorporating the stages of change model is important to determine the most effective treatment strategies for clients. The use of motivational strategies can facilitate progress through the stages of change model in order to increase positive outcomes in treatment and improve the therapeutic alliance. The purpose of this course is to provide a general overview of how change occurs and the stages of change model.
