Client and patient rights are important for direct support professionals to know and understand in today’s medical culture where protecting patient information is critical. Client-patient rights have changed from when they first became a part of medical and research programs to what we know now. While rights vary from state to state and county to county, there is overlap. It is important for all direct support professionals to be aware of the rights of patients and clients under their care. This course will discuss client-patient rights in healthcare settings as well as how rights may change based on the setting.
