Civil Rights and Advocacy for Clients with Developmental Disorders training course

Historically, those living with developmental disabilities in the United States faced much discrimination, segregation from others and exclusion from education, work, housing, and even from routine daily activities. Today, people with developmental disorders have the same basic legal, civil and human rights as other citizens. The U.S. Constitution, federal laws, and federal court decisions have established these rights. This course will teach current and future Direct Support Professionals strategies for advocating for their clients and promoting their civil rights. This course is designed for entry-level Direct Support Professionals.
