Mental Health Technicians will care for patients through many stages of the healing process. Some patients, however, suffer from illnesses that have no cure. Other patients may be very elderly, and their body is slowly shutting down. In both cases these patients are approaching death, which is the inevitable end to all human lives. It’s the role of the Mental Health Technicians to see that these patients, clients, and residents are made comfortable and maintain their dignity to the end. This course discusses how mental health technicians can appropriately care for terminally ill patients who are approaching death. Mental Health technicians will explore treatment options, the stages of grief, and how to care for a dying patient.
