The Mental Health Technician will care for many different types of patients, clients, and residents. Some of these people require care due to illnesses, disabilities, or the effects of old age. Some patients, though, may seem physically healthy but are still unable to care for themselves due to mental or emotional illness. Many patients can also suffer from emotional illness brought on as a result of a sickness or disability. The Mental Health Technician should care for both the physical needs and the emotional needs of their clients, patients, and residents. Having a better understanding of emotional illness will help them do this. This course will teach current and future Mental Health Technicians about mental health issues they may see in clients, patients, and residents, discussing how to best treat those with an emotional or mental illness.
