Any repeated and unwanted actions by an individual or group intended to intimidate, harass, degrade, or offend one or more persons is bullying. When it occurs in an organizational setting, bullying has a negative impact on the emotional health and well-being of employees and affects the performance of the entire organization. Bullying has become a serious and growing problem affecting a significant proportion of healthcare professionals compared to other industries. Therefore, it is important for patient care assistants to understand the factors that contribute to the development of bullying, and to take actions to prevent it in their workplace setting. This course discusses bullying in healthcare organizations and the strategies to help workers recognize and prevent bullying behavior.
