Working with individuals experiencing anxiety that is an expected response to their environment as well as with individuals diagnosed with an anxiety disorder is an almost daily experience for mental health technicians. It is therefore important to know how to recognize symptoms of anxiety and potential treatment options. While anxiety can be an expected response to a situation, anxiety can become so disruptive to functioning that it becomes a disorder. Anxiety disorders are one of the most common categories of mental disorders experienced by individuals, with many effective treatment options available. This course will overview the common characteristics of anxiety disorders, risk factors, and the diagnosis and treatment of each disorder.
