Many individuals experience situations that temporarily or permanently impact their mobility and become frustrated when they cannot move around as they desire. Mobility and ambulation are important aspects of overall health as well as critical for successful recovery from illness and injury. Often, this recovery includes assistance from direct support professionals who are skilled in mobility assistance. Individuals with mobility challenges often need help with their basic needs because they no longer possess enough movement control to complete hygiene or other daily tasks without assistance. This course discusses how direct support professionals can offer support to individuals experiencing mobility and ambulation issues, from minimal support to more extensive lifting and transferring needs.
